Bananas are good. Not perfect though.

Bananas are great. The fact that you can put them in a banana hammock is even better. If you could replace your protein intake with bananas it would be great, but you can't. I know because I have tried. I knew it wasn't going to work, but if it did, it would have been amazing. The concept was very simple. If I was itching for some protein, I would eat a banana and take in a glass of water. That ended up lasting about 2 weeks. I just felt deflated. I bought about 2 pounds of pistachios and took down quite a bit of milk. I've caught back up, and have been eating a lot of protein lately. I have put on some muscle as well. I realized I have been on a protein starved diet for years.

Another device you need.

You need an apple corer. BUT WHUUUT?! That's not an apple in there! Of course not, and that is why you need it. It works perfectly on pears too. It provides a beautiful flowery display of the fruits too. Want to eat a whole apple or pear, but only over the course of an hour? Just let it sit and pick away at your beautiful pear/apple flower art. While cutting an apple or pear isn't at all taxing, if you plan on having a few over the course of the day, or all at once, it can save you a whole mess of time. If you were doing something like making an apple pie, or trying to fill a bucket up with pear pieces for a weird prank of some sort, it would be better than having an extra set of hands around. And an extra pair of eyes too that would foil your wonderful pear bucket prank.

For the offense of being too delicious!

You have been punished by consumption! This is what was left just minutes after I got home from the grocery store yesterday. I found Mandarin oranges for under a dollar a pound, and that only means one thing. Buy at least 5 pounds, and begin the feast. I got a small plate thinking I would only be having one or two. It turned into three... then five... then 10. I then decided that maybe it would be best to eat one after completion of a chore. I found myself a little later having one between tasks on the same chore. Instead of having one after I folded laundry, I would have one because I transferred them to the dryer, or pulled clothes out of the dryer. Instead of having one after vacuuming, after vacuuming a room. It really took me all day to get anything done, but it was a great day because I had loads and loads of mandarin oranges to eat up. Also pictured is the citrus peeler I got, and while mandarins, and tangerines are really easy to peel, the device makes it absolutely effortless. Get one.

Merry Christmas to me!

So I am not afraid to buy myself some gifts. Pretty much no one gets me anything I want, or if they do, I will soon want something else. I wanted some fruit processing equipment, but without any moving parts. Moving parts=bad. I was set on an apple corer because chopping up an absurd amount of apples is very time consuming. Then I saw the mango splitter and I just HAD to have it. Even though I was unsure of how effective it was going to be, I gave it a go anyway and it freaking rules. I got myself a citrus peeler, and grapefruit spoons too. Eating grapefruit with a regular spoon is rather messy, and I have been eating a lot of grapefruit recently because they have been really cheap. Then I saw the fruit hammock, it is adorable. I shoved some bananas in it, so it is now known as the banana hammock. It is suppposed to allow the fruit to ripen evenly, but I really don't care about that. I made out pretty well for myself!

Giant Papaya Alert!

This papaya was huge! I typically don't buy the big papayas as it seems as if there is a limited amount of taste per papaya, so the big ones kind of have less flavor. Whatever it could all be in my head. This one was so big that I couldn't turn away though. It was over 4 lbs. At $.99 a pound that is a $4 piece of fruit. I didn't think to put a dollar bill on the cutting board or anything but that is a 'serving spoon'. It is big. This thing had so many damn seeds it was amazing. Even chopped up into tiny bits it didn't fit into the plasticware stuff. This was one of the pieces of fruit I bought before I got sick, it was good though. Papaya is one of my favorite fruits.

From the ashes...

Well! Go figure a few weeks into my 'ok I'm going to 'blog' about fruits once a week' thing I fall ill. Not the 'oh I'm kind of queezy' feeling. It was all out gut war. I always like to keep about 10 extra pounds on me just in case it happens so I don't get too wiped out. I dropped 20 pounds in 5 days. Managed to only miss one day of work too, so I am happy about that. I was able to hold down one grapefruit, and one papaya for those 5 days. Couldn't even hold water for most of it.
Well the day before I got sick I went out and purchased my fruit for the week. I always like to browse the Mangos and they had some giant ones on sale for a $1 each. I had to buy every last one they had. Well I got sick and couldn't eat them, so they sat in the fridge... and sat. I cut into it and 'oh no! over ripe!' Well I knew it wasn't going to be that bad because I have had plenty of over ripe mangos. In fact, I was getting pretty excited! Usually I tear into my stash long before they get the chance to ripen too much, but it has happened. I like it a whole lot. Lots more tang. A bit more appley like texture, and it just bites at the sides of your tongue like a lemon. It is a trip, and I love it.
I included a picture of what an over ripe and delicious mango looks like. The two in the middle you can really see the color difference. The middle is still about perfect, its the outside (lighter color) that is over ripe and full of tangy zest! Also pictured is a Marmite sandwhich. Rotten mangos taste pretty bad, and it goes from over ripe to rotten pretty quick. Just a heads up.

These are the 10 apples (gala) consumed on the 23rd of this month. They were on the verge of going bad, and whats the best way to consume insane amounts of fruit? Juice them! They got tossed in the juicer and frothy apple deliciousness came out. There was a Braeburn in there somewhere too, and it kicked a smidge of tartness into one of the glasses. It was good. Didn't pack much a sugar punch, but I could feel it moving through my bowels, and it felt good! In the mood for a really satisfying bowel movement? I'd suggest juicing 10 apples, because the one I had was rapturous. TMI? Deal with it.
